Marco Island Charter Middle School held its third annual Salute to Veterans and Active Military concert. The spring concert, held in the school’s gymnasium, drew the community together in appreciation of the many brave men and women who serve our country.
The Marco Men’s Club installed its 2018-19 Board of Directors at Hideaway Beach Club. Outgoing President “Silky” Sullivan turned over the gavel to Bill Rogers. Jeff Dywan was made Senior Vice President; Tim Clune, Secretary; and Don Zinner, Treasurer. Other Vice Presidents are Derek Mullinder, Ray Seward, Engin “Turk” Tilev and Dave Walsh. In recognition of their contribution of $51,000 to the Goodland Relief Fund, Marco Patriots officers received an autographed Goodland flag from Greg Bello, former president of the Goodland Civic Association.
The East Naples Merchants Association held its monthly Business Network Meeting at Bistro La Baguette in Naples. The Marco Island Yacht Club held its third annual “Hats and Horses” Kentucky Derby Day Celebration. “Run for the Roses” participants enjoyed mint juleps and hors d’oeuvres while cheering on their favorites. Numerous trophies were awarded for creative attire and hats.
Thirty-one students donning caps and gowns marched down the aisle as they graduated from St. Mark’s 7th Annual Prekindergarten Graduation. Proud families filled the sanctuary to celebrate the milestone. The children sang three songs before receiving their diplomas.
Twenty-four Tommie Barfield Elementary School fourth and fifth graders completed their Junior Gardeners school year with club sponsor, Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island. Each month, Opi DeFalco and Linda Walker prepare a gardening or environmental learning craft for the Junior Gardeners, and are assisted by Garden Club volunteers.
