Kiwanis New Year

Submitted The new year for the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island has started off as a busy one. Two new members were inducted into the Club at the Thursday morning meeting. Marge Superitis was the sponsor for Turk Tilev and Joanna Todisco. Rondi Hauser, Membership Chairperson, recited the Objects of Kiwanis and presented the new members with their name badge and Kiwanis pin. The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island along with the two Rotary Clubs on Marco Island have teamed up to pack 150,000 meals on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Charter Middle School. Veterans visit D.C.

By Coastal Breeze News Staff  On June 9th, 55 veterans and their guardians left Southwest Florida International Airport for a quick trip to Washington D.C. Sponsored by Rotary District 6960 and the Marco Island Sunrise Rotary, these veterans, many from World War II, had a chance to view both the WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial The 55 veterans, all from Southwest Florida, were greeted by a send-off committee of Rotarians and an Honor Guard salute at the airport in Fort Myers. Jane Watt final award recipient

The Rotary Club of Marco Island recently announced its final 2012 Spirit of Marco Island Award winner, Jane Watt. Jane Watt was advised of her selection last week during a fundraising event for the Marco Island Academy. Members of the Rotary Club of Marco Island made the surprise presentation in front of a group of nearly forty persons recognizing Jane Watt for leading the effort to establish the first high school on Marco Island, the Marco Island Academy. For as long as anyone in the Rotary Club can remember, Gerry Gerolamo has been by far the club’s best dressed member. A few years ago, for an interview, Gerry counted and found he had 55 suits plus 40 sport coats in addition to enough bow ties to never be seen in the same one twice – and for very good reason. The Rotary Club of Marco Island is proud to announce it will host its Second Annual Spirit of Marco Island Gala Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday May 1st at San Marco Catholic Church Parish Hall.
