By Coastal Breeze News Staff David Fuller, an award winning artist who has lived in Goodland for over five years, opened his one man show in the West Wing Gallery of the Naples Regional Library on November 1. The show will hang all month in Old Naples at 650 Central Avenue. Hours are 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. By Natalie Strom [email protected] On a sunny morning in mid-May, a few lucky onlookers witnessed a flock of at least thirty Roseate Spoonbills wading among the mangroves along State Road 92. The sighting was incredibly rare for a number of reasons. The bright pink birds were brazenly wading near the noisy, 45-mph roadside that connects Marco Island to the Goodland Bridge. The area, just east of the Steven’s Landing development, is also currently undergoing a restoration process, as over 225 acres of mangroves are dying at that location. SWFL Nature Festival takes flight
By Coastal Breeze News Staff The 8th Annual Southwest Florida Nature Festival will take place January 13th to the 15th. The event, hosted by Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Center will feature numerous events, expeditions and speakers that will hi-light the unique ecosystem that is Southwest Florida. Beginning on Friday and running through Sunday, the center will host field trips at 20 different locations. Some of these trips include birding walks, turtle walks, canoe and kayak excursions, swamp buggy tours and more. These field trips take place all over Collier County and a few are even in Lee County.
