By Steve Reynolds The 2nd Annual Rib Cook-Off was recently held at the Marco Island Brewery and a capacity crowd was on hand to taste the succulent ribs served hot off the grill. The Marco Island Brewery was again the host venue for the event which benefits the Marco Police Foundation. Seven “Ribbers” took part in the event which raised over $3,000 for the Marco Police Foundation. Celebrity Judges sampled the offerings for such categories as taste, look and overall greatness. Donna Fiala  The Marco Beach Ocean Resort received the Waste Reduction Award for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by promoting the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” philosophy, thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County landfill, thus keeping all of our landfill fees lower. Jeffrey Bullock, Hotel Manager, and Branka Guberina, Operations Manager, received the award for the hotel. In 2010, the Marco Beach Ocean Resort was awarded a Green Lodging designation by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
