Best Ribs title goes to…..

By Steve Reynolds The 2nd Annual Rib Cook-Off was recently held at the Marco Island Brewery and a capacity crowd was on hand to taste the succulent ribs served hot off the grill. The Marco Island Brewery was again the host venue for the event which benefits the Marco Police Foundation. Seven “Ribbers” took part in the event which raised over $3,000 for the Marco Police Foundation. Celebrity Judges sampled the offerings for such categories as taste, look and overall greatness. Adult Softball

In Week 3 of Adult Softball, after the dust had settled only two teams remained undefeated. Nene Kitchen defeated previously unbeaten Nacho Mama’s 18 to 12. Eric Nagel for Nene had 3 hits with one HR, and Brad Frazier,Wes Alberry and JP Nachef all added 3 hits each. Nacho’s was led by Matt Hopkins and Anthony Palermo’s 3 hits In the other game of previously undefeated teams, featured Davinci’s against Cocomo’s . Adult Softball

The City of Marco Island Adult Softball season got underway on Nov 10 with games being played at both Winterberry Park and Tommy Barfield ball field. This year there will be 8 teams competing every Thursday night at 6:15 and 7:30 pm. This year’s teams are Cocomo’s, Davinci’s, Joey Pizza, Nacho Mama’s, Islander Pool, Marco Island Brewery, NeNe Kitchen and Kretch’s. In the first week of games at TBE, Last season’s regular season champions, Cocomo’s came out in mid-season form and defeated Joey’s 15 to 7 and Davinci’s defeated Islander Pool 20 to 9.
