First Annual Yoga Fest Empowers Marco

By Maureen Chodaba

Kerri Lampos of RevivalYoga Fitness Studio believes in empowering men, women and children through yoga, an ancient practice of self-care and healing for both the body and mind. Yoga is a revival of one’s positive energy, uniting the physical and spiritual components of well-being. Embracing that divine intention, Lampos and Revival Yoga recently presented the First Annual Marco Yoga Fest at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

“The mission of the Marco Yoga Fest is to bring the Marco Island and Naples community together for a day of fun and wellness,” Lampos said. “Many people in our community attend classes in yoga and meditation at various places. I thought it would be amazing to bring as much of that together as possible. I feel it is valuable for people in this field to come together and collaborate instead of focusing on competition.”

What an amazing event it was! Classes and demonstrations were held throughout the day. There was everything from vinyasa flow (the dynamic process of linking movement and breath), kundalini (the yoga of awareness), and tai chi (the art of focused movement) to hula hoop and belly dancing instruction. The exploration of chakras (energy points in the psycho-spiritual body), by way of audible frequencies produced with Tibetan bowls, led participants on a pathway of self-discovery, awakening the brain waves to deep meditation, creative thinking and intuition.

Specialty vendors added even more to this celebration of life. Beauty specialist Tammy Miloro was on hand with her display of Mary Kay cosmetics, while Island Style Clothing offered soothing products from their bath and body shop. Marco Island Candle Co. offered their locally hand crafted 100% soy candles, donating $1 from each sale to the Marco Island Academy. Sharon McLaughlin was on hand with LilyO’s custom tea towels featuring designs of Marco Island and Naples, created by artist David Veith. Goddess I Am Healing & Art Center of Naples showcased their healing artisan jewelry and other crafts. The schedule of Jamie Shane of Elemental Athena was booked solid throughout the day for her interpretive tarot card readings. Healthy refreshments by Juicelation were nourishing and delicious.

The First Annual Marco Yoga Fest was an experience of wellness and peaceful unity for all who attended.
