The Italian American Society and the City of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department hosted 16 bocce teams for the annual Bob Ray Memorial Bocce Ball Tournament. In addition to the first place team (pictured), the other winning teams are:
Second Place: Carol Forest, Bill Forest, Fran Kavcic and Zanka Grajazl.
Third Place: Lilia and Gino Pasquinelli, Giovanna Pedrelli and Giulia Chiappini.
Fourth Place: Tony and Ann Champa, Bob Frey and Val Kavcic.
Jerry Leeman’s designed and sculpted trophy was on display and awarded to the winning team. This trophy was designed to honor the late Bob Ray, an IAS member who loved both bocce and Marco Island. In addition to the trophy, the winning team’s name is placed on a plaque for display at Mackle Park. The tournament was organized by Italian American Society member Phil Medonia, a daily fixture at Mackle Park, playing his favorite game of bocce ball.
