1990s Condos – More Luxury & Space

Last week 80 of the 382 condos listed for sale on Marco Island were built in the 1990s. This decade saw a big increase in condo square footage and luxury.

The vibrant community at Hideaway Beach grew dramatically during this time with the construction of the Villas, 2000, 3000 and 6000 buildings along Royal Marco Way in the early 1990s, and the Riviera condos in 1996. Twenty-two condos are for sale in these buildings ranging in price from $699,500 for a two-bedroom, 2,165 square foot condo in the 2000 building, to $3,964,000 for a three story, three-bedroom 5,812 square foot villa on the beach. With its adjacent beach, sports complex, executive golf course, tennis courts and beach club offering formal and casual dining facilities, this gated community represents a unique, upscale Marco Island lifestyle.

Cape Marco, a prestigious gated community at the south end of the island, saw the construction of the Merida, Tampico, Monterrey and Cozumel condos during the 1990s. Seventeen of these condos are for sale starting at $749,000 for a two-bedroom, 1,428 square foot condo at Merida to $2,500,000 for a three-bedroom, 2,666 square foot condo at Cozumel. Many of the condos at Cape Marco have outstanding views of Marco Island’s crescent beach, especially north facing condos at Cozumel. The superb amenities include formal lobby areas, club rooms, bar, billiards, pool, spa, fitness center, convenient beach access, tennis courts, fishing boardwalk and an active social program.

Riviera at Hideaway Beach

Fifteen inland condos are for sale in this category. Vintage Bay, built during 1997 to 1999, has eight condos for sale ranging from $295,000 for a two-bedroom condo to $674,000 for a three-bedroom 2,788 square foot penthouse with panoramic views. This tranquil gated community features a boardwalk to Barfield Bay.

Three inland condos are for sale at The Essex, built in 1990 on South Collier Boulevard. Prices range from $365,000 to $385,000 for these two-bedroom, two-bathroom 1,002 square foot condos. The Essex is a small complex (30 units) close to South Beach, shops and restaurants with covered parking, pool and tennis courts.

Built in 1997, Dela Park Place is located on the Gulf at the south end of Marco Island. This condo features gated entry, pool and tennis courts and is within walking distance of South Beach. Two condos are for sale here – a two-bedroom 1,275 square foot condo for $599,000 and a three-bedroom 1,358 square foot condo for $724,900.
