  1. “Please help Marco’s Burrowing Owls with a donation to provide supplies such as ropes, posts and signs.”

Florida burrowing owl nests can be taken (destroyed), outside of nesting season, by applying for and obtaining a Migratory Bird Nest Removal Permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The FWC does not charge a fee for this permit. If the FWC charged even a slight permit application fee (ex. $100 per permit application) then the money could be applied to fund Florida burrowing owl research, provide funds for equipment signs and posts, etc. The FWC charges a fee for hunting licenses, fishing licenses, etc. but doesn’t charge a fee when impacting the Florida burrowing owl, a state listed Species of Special Concern.
