The Guadalupe Center recently honored its 14 Tutor Corps graduates as they head off to college at their annual Celebration Dinner. Surrounded by family, friends, mentors and other supporters, the Immokalee High School seniors were the stars of the evening. This impressive group of graduates had an average GPA of 3.9 and will attend Michigan State University, Arcadia University, University of Florida and University of Iowa, to name a few.
Three special scholarships were announced that evening. Destiny Shepard was awarded the Bob Lisbon Scholarship, Cristian Laureano was selected for the Vasey Scholarship, and Noemi Reyes received the Ben O’Bryan Scholarship.
Tutor Corps graduate Dr. Elizabeth Midney was the featured speaker.
For the past eight years, the Tutor Corps college acceptance rate has been 100%, matching some of the best private schools in Naples. In the fall, these bright motivated young scholars will join more than 100 previous Tutor Corps graduates at universities around the country.
