It may be off-season, but the Marco Island Center for the Arts still has a lot in store for Marco Islanders. May’s theme for the main galleries is Abstraction/Distraction and includes over 50 pieces of art from artists all over the Southwest Florida area. The official opening for this exhibit, our Second Tuesday Reception, will be held on May 13, from 5:30-7pm and is open to the public.
The exhibit is bold, colorful and imaginative, reflecting the many ways an artist can express himself, whether in clay, mixed media, photography or paintings. Some of the art you will recognize immediately, a bird, a flower, a human face. While with others, each person will see something different like in an inkblot test. There is no one correct answer; so have fun with it.
