The United Arts Council of Collier County has announced that Jon and Sonja Laidig of Marco Island are among the winners of the 2014 Stars in the Arts awards. Representatives from among several disciplines in the Collier County arts community are among those chosen. In addition to the Laidigs, winners include Linda Cummings, Mally Khorasantchi, Megan McCombs, the Holocaust Museum and Education Center, and the Naples Botanical Garden.
The Laidigs are long-time residents of Marco Island and valued members of the Marco Island Historical Society family. Their passion for the history of Marco Island and their commitment to philanthropy resulted in a generous donation to establish the Marco Island Historical Museum. Additionally, the Laidigs donated generously to the MIHS’s endowment fund to ensure ongoing support for the island’s history and to preserve the museum for future generations.
The Marco Island Historical Society is tremendously grateful for the Laidigs’ continued friendship and support. The MIHS is extremely proud of their receipt of this award and grateful to the United Arts Council of Collier County for its recognition of the Laidigs’ contribution to the arts of Collier County.
A luncheon saluting the 2014 Stars in the Arts award winners will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in Naples on Friday, March 7 at 11 AM. Please visit www.collierarts.com to reserve a seat online or to print an order form to attend the luncheon.
