“The City of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee has organized an Open House for all residents for the Mackle Park Community Center. The will be held Tuesday, March 4, from 5-8 PM at Mackle Park.
Plans for the new community center will be available for review, and members of the committee and Parks and Recreation staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the proposed plans for the Mackle Park Community Center. Residents are encouraged to stop by to show their support and to bring their questions for discussion. Light refreshments will be served.
The Community Center plans have changed tremendously over the past few years. The current scaled-back community center is what is being proposed, yet some residents may have questions on what changed. It is the desire of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee to help clarify the plans, the details, size and cost for the public.
It is anticipated the building of the Mackle Park Community Center will go to referendum this year. Support for the building has increased as the size and cost has gone down. Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Member Dr. Gerald Swiacki was quoted in this newspaper previously as saying, “The price is right, and the time is right. The committee is here to give information and implore you to think positively and to vote ‘yes’ to a referendum.”
