Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa continues to demonstrate its commitment to the local community with another $20,000 donation to the Marco Island Academy. The donation comes from funds raised at the Marriott Paradise Charities Golf Classic tournament hosted by the resort.

With the recent pledge, the Marriott’s cumulative contributions to MIA total more than $120,000. These funds have gone towards new campus construction, furnishings and supplies. Marriott’s donations also help to support the Academy’s participation in the Cornell Summer College Scholarship Program.

“The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa takes great pride in our wonderful beachside community,” said Rick Medwedeff, general manager of Marco Island Marriott. “Part of our mission is to support the growth, education, and development of the people in our town and to do our part to encourage tomorrow’s leaders.”

With a focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Marco Island Academy was built to guide students from 9-12th grade to achieve post-secondary success. The academy also offers a Hospitality and Tourism program thanks to its partnership with Marco Island Marriott.
