The Consul General of Italy – Miami, Adolfo Barattolo, was a special guest at the recent Gala Dinner held at the Hilton Inn and sponsored by the Naples Italian American Foundation. Other guests included Italian Trade Commissioner Giancarlo Albano and Collier Commissioner Donna Fiala. Four local professionals of Italian heritage who were honored for their contributions to the community were: attorneys Louis D’Agostino and Domenico Lucarelli, and Doctors Michael D’Angelo and Antonino Zampogna. Also present was Italian teacher Marie Claire Singer of Palmetto Ridge High School, who accepted a check to the school for $4,000, awarded by the Consul General, in recognition of the school’s successful attempt to prepare and enroll a large number of their Italian language students into the AP Italian course.
On April 5, 2014, the Italian American Foundation will hold the Seventh Annual Gene Sarazen Charity Golf Open at Wyndemere Country Club. The 27-hole competition will benefit the Special Olympics of Collier County, Go 4 the Goal, a children’s pediatric cancer charity, as well as various local children’s charities.
