Christmas on Marco – Island Style

The first sign of Christmas on Marco is when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived via fire truck with two elves to the Shops of Marco. Children couldn’t wait to greet them and to tell Santa about their Wish Lists and to say just how good they’ve behaved throughout the year.

The annual Boat Parade drew thousands of onlookers to the water’s edge from the starting point at Snook Inn to the Esplanade where the People’s Choice award is decided. Boaters decorated their vessels with an array of Christmas décor and they delighted in the “oohs and aahs” of the onlookers as they passed by.

Another sign is the Tree Lighting at Veterans Community Park. Crowds were entertained by local musicians, local dancers and our own Jim Long and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus were there. Everyone waited in anticipation and broke out in applause when the tree was lit in all its Christmas glory.

Of course, we had the annual parade for our four-legged friends. You can read all about that elsewhere in this issue of Coastal Breeze News.
