Each year, the Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization is required to develop a financially feasible Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that includes all transportation projects that are to be funded with state and federal dollars over the next five years. Occasionally it becomes necessary to add, delete, or modify a project included in the MPO’s TIP.
The Collier MPO is hereby announcing a 30-day public comment period for the draft amendment to the adopted TIP for the Fiscal Years (FY) 2012/13 through FY 2016/17. The draft amendment is to add a project for the design/ build phases on Tamiami Trail East (U.S. 41) from Collier Boulevard (S.R./C.R. 951) to Greenway Road in FY 2012/13 and 2013/14. To address safety and congestion issues, U.S. 41 will be widened from two undivided lanes to six divided lanes. The project will also include bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
Pursuant to the MPO’s Public Involvement/Public Participation Plan, the public comment period for this draft amendment will end on March 7, 2013. The MPO Board will consider the adoption of this amendment together with comments received within the public comment period at the MPO’s regular meeting on March 8 at the Board of County Commissioners chambers, 3rd Floor, Collier County Government Center, 3299 Tamiami Trail East, Naples. The meeting starts at 9 a.m.
