On Monday, January 14, the Calusa Garden Club held its monthly meeting at 1:00 PM in Fellowship Hall of Wesley United Methodist Church. An optional pre-meeting workshop,”All About Vines,” was conducted at 11 AM by Sue Oldershaw and Donna Kay. Donna listed a variety of vines, including pictures, that can be used in Southwest Florida.
The business meeting included updates on environmental issues, Junior Gardeners at Tommie Barfield, the garden therapy program, “How Our Garden Grows,” at Sanitasole, upcoming field trips, and planning for the March 16 – 17 flower show.
Dolly Tomalina presented a program, “Cacti and Succulents.” She also provided club members with cuttings from her own garden.
The afternoon ended with members enjoying a plant swap and a fund-raising plant sale.
The Calusa Garden Club meets on the second Monday of the month. An optional workshop begins at 11 AM, followed by a social meeting from 12:15 – 1 PM. The business meeting begins at 1 PM and programs start at 1:45 PM. Meetings occur from October through April. For additional information, call 394-1425.
