Marco Presbyterian Church Worship Time Schedule for 2013 Season

Annual Event Helps Bring Christmas To Everglades Kids

More than 40 deserving Everglades area children purchased presents for their family members during the eighth annual “Shop With A Cop” event Saturday, Dec. 1. Susan Gentry, a Collier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention specialist, organized the event, sponsored by the Collier County Police Activity League (PAL). Forty-four children received $100 each to select items for their parents, siblings and a gift for themselves. Around three dozen CCSO members, along with their family members, went shopping with the kids to help them pick out and purchase the items. In the game of the unbeaten, Island Pizza flexed its muscles and handed Cocomo’s its first loss of the season 28 to 10.  While Cocomo’s was able to score 10 runs, it was Island Pizza‘s bats that came alive. Bobby Natale had 5 hits including a HR, Eric Nagel also had 5 hits. Brad Frazier, Jason Berning and JP Nachef each added three hits apiece and Wes Alberry, Neil Alberry and Lee Borgin each added 2 hits.  Only Curt Wittoff for Cocomo’s was able to get anything going having two hits. Along with the nation, the Marco Island Police Department mourns the tragic and senseless loss of children and educators in Newtown Connecticut. Jewish Federation of Collier County Presents its 2012 Human Needs Award

Angels Undercover and Laces of Love are the 2012 recipients On Tuesday, December 11, the Jewish Federation of Collier County presented its 2012 Human Needs Award to Angels Undercover and Laces of Love. Angels Undercover provides underwear, socks and school uniforms to school children in need. Laces of Love provides shoes to disadvantaged children in Collier County. Each organization also received a check for $2,400 from the Federation. In 2003, the Federation Board and its Community Relations Committee established a “Fund for Human Needs” to recognize organizations for their generous spirit and service to the entire community. CCSO-Trained Service Dog Presented To Family Of Paralyzed Girl

A 1-year-old golden retriever named Fosse marked the successful end to his training in the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s service dog program Thursday night at a ceremony where he was presented to the family of child who was paralyzed in a car crash. But Fosse will have to wait a few more days before he can leave the Collier County jail, where he has been training with female inmates since June, and settle into his permanent home in Lee County with 11-year-old Hannah Grant and her family. Domestic Animal Services Funds Treatment for Adoptable, Heartworm-Positive Dogs

A new program, “All Hearts, No Worms” is underway at Collier County’s Domestic Animal Services (DAS) to treat and then find homes for adoptable, heartworm-positive dogs. DAS will fund heartworm treatment medication from the Donation Trust Fund, allowing the public to adopt and affordably treat their new pets at home. DAS is currently negotiating reduced prices for the administration of the heartworm treatment with local veterinarians. “This community partnership is giving these dogs a second chance at life, while minimizing the cost to the adopter,” said Amanda Townsend, DAS Director.
