County Manager Leo Ochs is pleased to announce that he has selected Bruce C. Register as the Director of Business and Economic Development.
“Bruce was selected from a number of exemplary candidates, and we’re fortunate to add such an experienced individual to the County’s professional staff,” County Manager Ochs said. “Having a director with Bruce’s credentials is crucial to accomplish the economic development goals of the Board of County Commissioners.”
Mr. Register was selected for the position of Director of Business and Economic Development after a nationwide recruitment search. A native of Florida, Register comes to Collier County with an extensive background in municipal economic development, having held the position of Corporate Development Manager for Hillsborough County Economic Development since 1997. In addition, Mr. Register has direct experience as a small business owner, having co-owned an agribusiness operation since 1988.
Register holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and Philosophy from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida. In addition, he is a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council.
On June 26, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the creation of the Office of Business and Economic Development. The Office of Business and Economic Development will work to attract new businesses, and help existing businesses to grow and expand within Collier County. The Office will create a high-level one stop effort by coordinating with all state and regional economic development resources.

Register is expected to begin his assignment in late January 2013. His annual salary is $103,500.
