Marco Island Writers met at the Center for the Arts on Wednesday, November 14. Two speakers brought a wealth of information to the group of over 20 members and guests.
For the first hour, Tina Murray, PhD, romance author of “A Chance to Say Yes” brought her insights in her talk titled “Believe in Your Writer- Self.” It emphasized the need for authors to believe in themselves and to give themselves permission to explore their inner child as a source of their inspiration. The second hour, Anne Dalton, Esquire of Fort Myers enlightened the audience on the danger of “Defamation of Character and Invasion of Privacy” in regards to the characters they create. For the December 12 meeting, MIW is proud to have non-fiction writer, Jim Langlas, author of “Heart of a Warrior.” Second, Marty Ambrose, professor at Edison College, will teach a workshop on character development. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. All levels of writers are welcome. Meetings are open to the public and first time visitors are always free. MIW meets at the Marco Island Center for the Arts at 1010 Winterberry Drive. Meetings times are 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Doors open at 6:00 PM to sign in and network with fellow writers.
