As the City Council election comes to a close, I want to thank my fellow citizens for the tremendous level of support and encouragement I’ve encountered all over the Island. I’ve truly enjoyed the process of running for office. I’ve met over 2,800 people by knocking on doors up and down the residential streets, listening to your concerns and talking about my positions. Early in the campaign, I set out to meet with City officials, prior and current Council members, and participants and leaders of civic organizations – including informal groups of concerned citizens. The range of ideas, opinions and viewpoints is wide, but everyone I’ve met shares a passion to keep Marco Island the incredibly pleasant and vibrant place it is.
My campaign is based on maintaining that critical balance as we continue to grow, with almost 2,500 buildable lots, and now a complete on-Island K through 12 education system. We will become increasingly attractive to young families, and we must remain the peaceful community that attracted so many of us. We have to tighten our fiscal focus, because with growing challenges come growing budgets unless we’re careful and deeply analytical. And we have to engender respect and inclusion, not only among all citizens, but also among City Council members. Again, I thank you for your support, and I’d like to have your vote.
