Wednesday, September 26, 5-8PM will be the LAST Last Wednesday ArtWalk at the Artist Colony at the Esplanade. After three years in this lovely locale, Marco Island’s artists have lost their lease and are actively reviewing potential new venues.
Will there be tears? Will there be sadness? No time for that! The artists are all busy planning an ArtWalk extravaganza to thank everyone who has supported Island art and artists.
Live music is being arranged with the help of J.Robert & Friends, and count on plenty of creative refreshments.
There will also be numerous deals on some of the finest art offered in our area. The ArtWalk theme is Autumn Blows Us Away! Now, that’s a sense of humor.
Blown away from their current location, yes, but all of the artists feel an immense gratitude for the privilege of being at the Esplanade and look forward to their progression as a unified Colony. Follow their progress on the website www.marcoislandartistcolony.com.
The artists of the Colony are especially grateful to all the local musicians who have entertained at the ArtWalks over the years on their own time, particularly Tom Porter and Henry Harrington from Ordinary Man, singer songwriter Jim Allen, the Marco Island Strummers, Harpist Kim Adamson, young Michael Smith, and guitarist Rob Snyder. And there were many more, a beautiful example of artists supporting artists.
According to artist Carolyn Burger, “It was an invaluable experience for us as we worked together to reach out to art lovers and provide interesting events for all…we look forward to finding other ways to continue to develop beautiful art.”
The Esplanade is located at 740-760 N. Collier Blvd. on beautiful Smokehouse Bay. For more information call 239-200-2501.
