The Bingo Committee is excited to open its 14th season on Monday, October 1st at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island, 991 Winterberry Road.
The Committee consists of many of the same volunteers who served since the beginning of the game, 14 years ago. One such volunteer is Miriam Slavich who said, “Our enthusiastic volunteer Bingo committee is looking forward to our 14th year of Bingo. We welcome seeing our old friends of Bingo and making new ones. Join us and have a great evening every Monday night!” Volunteers can easily be identified by their bright yellow aprons.
Sue Baum, co-chair of the Committee, states that the friendly attitude and service offered to the players by the Bingo Committee is one of the important factors in the success of the Bingo Game.
Last year over 6,000 bingo players came to participate in the games. A kosher frankfurter, relish, sauerkraut, pickles and onions, are served with coffee, tea, pastries, fruit and ice cream, free of charge to each player.
Bingo is played every Monday. The doors open at 5:30 PM, Bonanza is posted at 6:15 PM and the game is called at 7 PM. Instead of multiple winners of a single bingo receiving prize money equally divided the prize is rounded off, giving each player additional money. Policies like this please the players. According to the Committee, this year promises to be a banner year. One special event plans for a Sunday Bingo played during the day with lunch included on December 30, 2012.
In addition, the Committee will be announcing special events throughout the season.
