As many have already heard, Stan Gober of Goodland passed away last night, Monday, June 18th. Stan was well known within Southwest Florida and throughout the world as people journeyed to Stan’s on Sundays from near and far. To see and hear Stan on a Sunday was a one-of-a-kind experience. He was a family man, a singer, a songwriter, a comedian and a true entertainer. Stan was red, white and blue through and through. He loved his country and he loved Goodland. He was a philanthropist, constantly raising money for organizations within our community. He was also a friend to many.
Those who loved Stan may pay their respects this Sunday, June 24th. A funeral service will be held at Stan’s Idle Hour in Goodland between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. Stan will be there, just as he was every Sunday for so many years. His family would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to come and pay tribute.
A private family burial will take place following the funeral. Per Stan’s orders, all must stay and celebrate his life as his family takes him to his final resting place. After the private burial, the family will return to take part in the celebration of a long life full of love and good deeds.
In lieu of flowers, Stan’s family has asked that donations be sent to Avow Hospice in his name. They may be sent to Avow Hospice at 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home has made the funeral arrangements and will be posting a guest book online for anyone to sign. Visit www.hodgesjosberger.com to express your condolences and to celebrate the life of a man who touched so many.
