Native Marco Island wildlife

By Coastal Breeze News Staff As seasonal visitors have begun to disappear, some of our native wild life is making an appearance: Fluffy baby owls can be found peeking out of nests all over the island. As many as five to eight babies per nest have been spotted venturing out from their burrows recently to check their surroundings. A rare rabbit sighting took place near San Marco Road in the vicinity of Schilling Jewelers. A manatee was looking for fresh water off of a seawall near Winterberry Drive. Submitted At a recent Kiwanis Club of Marco Island meeting, the Lt. Governor for Division 11 of Kiwanis International congratulated Wayne Mead for Mead’s many years of service. He has contributed to the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island in many ways. One such way was by heading the Membership Committee in past years. When Wayne joined the Kiwanis Club in Iowa as a young man, the cost of membership was $1,000. They were just a small group in a small area. Thunderbird Sailing opens on Isles of Capri

Thunderbird Sailing, based out of Isles of Capri is now offering afternoon and sunset sailing charters. “The Thunderbird is a world-class, ocean-racing Condor 40-foot Trimaran, 40 feet long and 28 feet wide.
