Stand out from the crowd

Sometimes, we feel we need to do big things in life to stand out from the crowd, to make a difference… but in my experience I have found that it is the small things that make a difference.

A smile for someone who is feeling a bit down, a touch on the shoulder for someone feeling lonely or a ride to the store for someone with no car. Imagine being the recipient of any of these gestures,in your time of need…imagine that that someone is you.

I have a dear friend and long time customer, Doretta, who calls and asks me to put together a couple quarts of soup or dinners to go…because she has a friend who is ill or unable to cook. She makes me smile each and every time. I have such respect and admiration for this woman, in her mid 80’s, still reaching out to those in need.

As a restaurant chef, it is my utmost pleasure to bring smiles and sounds of delight to each and every person we serve. I look forward each and every morning to joining my staff and customers for a full day of wonderful food. I keep in mind that our customers come to us several times a week…and I always enjoy introducing wonderful new specials to tantalize their taste buds.

I can relate to so many stories of customers calling for special requests for someone not feeling well…chicken noodle soup….”please give me 2 hours and I will prepare it for you”…my granddaughter is Gluten Free…”I have gluten free pancakes, crepes, breads”…I have a nut allergy…”please let your server know to speak with me, directly”. It is not difficult to satisfy…it just takes a moment to listen and Stand Out From The Crowd!

A restaurant can select its own recipes and decide on the quality of food it chooses to offer. The owner can hire whomever he or she prefers. She can put together a menu of her own choosing. The important part is to make it work….and Stand Out From The Crowd!

Standing out is not just a phrase…it is an inspiration! It is taking that extra step to be different!

Get inspired…try this recipe the next time your grandchildren visit.

Froot Loop French Toast

• 1 c. Froot Loops crushed

• 1 tsp. orange flavor extract

• 3 eggs

• 1/2 c. pancake mix

• 3/4 c. milk

• bread slices

Blend eggs, pancake mix, milk and orange flavor extract together. Soak bread in blended eggs overnight to fully soak in flavors. Dip bread in crushed Fruit Loops the following morning and grill on each side. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar and syrup, or fresh berries.

This recipe can also use other cereals, Cap’n Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs…choose your grandchildren’s favorite.
