Concert to Benefit Meals-On-Wheels
St. Vincent de Paul announces an upcoming concert by World Famous Pianist Jan Mulder to benefit their Meals-On-Wheels program. The concert will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Euro Grand Piano Gallery in the Imperial Square Shopping Mall, Naples, FL, and will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by a meet-and-greet with Jan and his family. Tickets are available by phone at 239.775.1667 for a minimum donation of $30 per person. Seating is limited. The St. Vincent de Paul Meals-On-Wheels program is the largest Collier County provider of nutritious meals for seniors, the homebound and infirm serving 85,000 meals last year. Read More »
Monthly Beach Clean-Ups – Keeping It Clean For Everyone!
Have you noticed how nice the Marco Island beach looks? This is largely due to the monthly beach clean-ups organized by the City of Marco Island’s Beach Advisory Committee (BAC) and its chairman, Publix Manager, Kevin Donlan. He and BAC member and Marco Island Civic Association (MICA) board member, Bernardo Bezos, who volunteers the MICA beach vehicle, and other BAC members, are on the beach once a month with a sponsoring local business. It’s time once again for Christmas Island Style/ Greater Marco Family YMCA “Santa’s Calling.” This special holiday program utilizes the information that you, the parent submit, to ensure a memorable call from the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus or one of the elves on staff. Kiwanis Induction Dinner
The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island held its Annual Officer Induction Dinner/Dance recently at the Hideaway Beach Club. It was a beautiful night for cocktails around the pool and then a delicious dinner in the ballroom. Dance music was supplied by Smokin’ Joe and Konnie. Club officers for the 2011-12 year are John Coff, President, Dennis Pidherny, Sec-retary and Bryan Hauser, Treasurer. Calusa Garden Club
At the November 14 meeting of the Calusa Garden Club, Chris Burt and Karen Anglin from the Island Garden Center presented a program entitled “Planting by the Compass on your Patio or Grounds.” They stressed the importance of knowing the hours of sunlight in each area before choosing the proper plants. They also brought a wide variety of plants of different heights and different sunlight requirements to use as examples. Bette McGilvray & Barbara Dasti Co-Chairs for Christmas Island Style Ornament Contest would like to report: 46 drawings from Charter Middle School Students entered our 4th annual CIS Or-nament contest for 2012. The 2012 theme was a “CRAB”. The judging took place at The Marco Island Center for the Arts Friday Novem-ber 18th. The winners were chosen and will be introduced at the CIS Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 3rd. All winners will be recognized at the CIS Awards Ceremony in January 2012. Read More »
