Q. What are some fun ways to boost my fitness motivation?
A. So many people want to work out, but lack the motivation or are intimidated by that first step. The obvious solution is to seek out a knowledgeable (and fun!) personal trainer. Ask yourself what is your “fitness personality”? Do you prefer undivided, one-on-one attention with an individualized fitness, nutrition and cardio plan? Do you desire a private atmosphere where you can dress down with comfy workout clothes, bad hair, and no make-up? Do you like to pick your appointment times and have someone train you on your schedule?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then private personal training (or Pilates) sounds like the perfect fit for you! All you have to do is show up with a willing attitude and your trainer will take care of the rest! If, on the other hand, you are a social butterfly and like to sweat in numbers, try out a variety of different workout styles, and keep coming back for more— then group fitness training may be your golden ticket.
Group fitness is not only an affordable alternative to private training, but gives you fitness friends to boot. You can choose from a smorgasbord of classes and attend as many as your schedule will allow! You will never tire of the variety and stimulation that group training provides. Another great benefit is that you can try as many as you like and continue with the ones you like best.
One-on-one training will get you to your goals quicker (obviously) because your trainer will customize a program distinctly arranged for you; however, you can reap major strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility benefits from group training as well.
They are each different, but provide amazing benefits. If you cannot decide which one you prefer, there is always the option of cross-training; you can work with a trainer certain days of the week and on your off days (instead of going at it alone) you can hop on the group fitness train to keep you motivated and on towards your goals.
