Consul General discusses Palestinian request

By Jane Marlowe On Monday, September 19, the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island hosted a luncheon and lecture by the Israeli Consul General for Florida and Puerto Rico, the Honorable Chaim Shacham. Mr. Shacham, American born, has served Israel in several capacities, as an army commander, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel’s representative to the Plenary of the United Nations General Assembly for nine sessions and participated in the Israeli Delegation to the Madrid Peace Conference. Demolition Excavator Fully Enveloped in Flames

On Wednesday September 14, 2011, the City of Marco Island Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire at 1631 Collingswood Ave. On arrival firefighters found the engine compartment of a Firefighters extinguished the fire which was fed by hydraulic fluids using firefighting foam. On Wednesday, September 14th, entitled: Federal Emergency Management Incident Command Systems MGT-347. The 4.5 hour course presented participants with educational environment to study and practice the use of the most common fifteen Incident Command Systems forms, how to create SMART objectives with respect to incident planning; and how and when the forms are used in the incident action planning process. Civil Air Patrol Trains for US Air Force Evaluation

Training is high on the list of Civil Air Patrol activities as they can be called upon at any time to respond to local, regional, state or national emergencies. To assure high standards are met, the US Air Force (USAF) periodically tests each state Wing for mission effectiveness, referred to as a Search and Rescue Evaluation (SAREVAL). The mission headquarters of the Florida Wing temporarily relocated their operations nerve center to the Marco Island Squadron’s airport hangar on September 10th to rehearse for the upcoming USAF evaluation. The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee currently has two vacancies, one for a member in the category real estate with a term to expire on October 1, 2013, and one for a member in the category, advocate for low-income persons, term to expire December 13, 2013. Special Olympics Collier County took a delegation of Four Special Olympics athletes to the 2011 Golf State Games Competition in Kissimmee, FL on September 9th & 10th to compete against athletes from around the State. Scott and Lisa Hicks are local residents and avid runners whose favored route tracks from ‘Old Marco’ along Bald Eagle to Collier, then towards South Beach. Statistics for Marco Island only properties, from the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors® Multiple Listing Service show high sales activity since the beginning of the year compared with the same time frame last year. Statistics from January 1, 2011 through August 31, 2011, all property types, show an increase of activity and price compared to the same period of time last year, January 1, 2010 through August 31, 2010.
