CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team, is part of Homeland Security and an important partner with the local fire & rescue departments. They had a county-wide training at the Naples Airport on Saturday, May 1. Practice exercises involved each CERT team being given the task of being first responders to a tornado that had just hit a trailer park. Motorcycle struck by car
On Thursday morning, 05-06-10, at 9.45 AM, Marco Island Fire Department responded to an accident at the intersection of Barfield and 6th Ave. A man sustained injuries when his motorcycle was struck by a car. Hideaway Beach Gets Go-Ahead for Re-Nourishment
Retired Senator Burt Saunders made a surprise appearance at Friday afternoon’s Hideaway Beach District Board meeting to announce that the state has granted an easement that will give access to cross state property with equipment needed to commence with the beach re-nourishment project. With residents anxious to begin the work, this last necessary step had been delayed until two weeks ago when Saunders was asked to help move the process along.
