This Scholarship program provides an opportunity for Collier County high school juniors and seniors to exhibit their original artworks and compete for scholarship funds to continue their education in the arts. All funds provided for the program are provided by dedicated donations from Art League Patrons and the dedicated business community.

Winner of the $1500 Outstanding Young Artist Award went to Christie Green, Gulf Coast High School. Recipient of the Emil & Gail Fischer Award for $1000.00 went to Lauren Berthelsen, Barron Collier High School; the Glen & LaVonne Johnson Award for $500.00 went to Geoffrey Castillo, Lely High School. Awards for $500 each were given to Ryan Schahrer and Alexandra Domigez, both students at Gulf Coast High School.

In addition to the Scholarship awards, the program also provides Merit Awards to those students who wish to compete outside the scholarship guidelines. Merit award winners were: Rich Crum and Paige Thorsen, Barron Collier High School, Lacey McKee and Erin Rectanus, Community School of Naples and John Treanor Gulf Coast High School.

The competition is a juried art program that requires each applicant to submit two original designs. Judging takes place on the body of work, not on an individual piece. This year’s judges, selected by the Scholarship committee, are Diane Reed Eiler, Sandy Moor Howe and Tracy Gudgel. Together these professionals provide a combined level of experience and expertise in a range of media from drawing and painting, clay and sculpture to photography and graphic arts. 2010 Scholarship Committee Co-Chairs are Dianne Kuruc and Claire Keery.
