Many events are held on Marco Island each year but none are more awaited then the annual Miss Dottie’s Duck Derby.
This year marks the 15th annual swimming of the ducks at the Greater Marco Family Aquatic Center and is slated for Saturday, March 27, 2010. This year’s event will be even bigger and better promises Miss Dottie as the 15th anniversary of the event is being celebrated.
The day will kick off at 6:45 a.m. as the senior swimmers take to the warm waters of the pool for a 1 hour swim a thon. At 7:45 a.m. the youth swimmers will take the plunge for an hour and at 8:45 a.m. an all- you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast will be offered under the Miss Dottie Pool Pavilion.
The 15th Annual swimming of the ducks will commence at 11 a.m. and will race till all the ducks are in.
You will need to register your ducks for the races and that can be done at the Y Customer Service desk. You can also purchase by phone using your VISA or MasterCard by calling 239-394-3144 ext. 0.
The registration fee for the Regular ducks is $15 each or 2 for $25 The Celebrity/Patriot Ducks are $30 for a duck or $50 for 2 ducks. The Corporate/ Pirate Ducks are also $30 each or 2 for $50. All Celebrity/ Corporate ducks will be given to their owners after the races are run. Third place finisher for the Regular Duck race will receive $150 cash, Second Place winner will receive $350 cash and the First Place finisher will win $500 cash.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Y Aquatic Program.

A memorable day of family fun, music and pool games is being offered to all! Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit as open swimming will be available until 2 p.m.
